As a physician and pastor, Dr. Torres loves giving back through charity work. He studied and practiced medicine in the Dominican Republic specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, started the Hope Clinic in 2007 giving medical and dental services for the uninsured patients in Johnson and Hill counties in Texas and serves as medical director for over 400 churches as a part of the Texas Conference.
After using a walker for years due to left hip pain, Dr. Torres thought his life and everything he loved to do was over. He was unsure if surgery would help with the pain he was experiencing, but knew he wasn’t ready to give up his passion for charity.
Dr. Torres had a total hip replacement and was admitted to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth for physical rehabilitation.
“Since I’ve been here following the program, I can do things physically I haven’t done in years,” said Dr. Torres “I’m more positive and optimistic and have my goals and dreams.”
The Hope Clinic, Dr. Torres’ endeavor, will be expanding in Texas and will open a clinic in the Dominican Republic.
“More than anything else, HealthSouth Fort Worth has given me hope,” said Dr. Torres. “The surgery and my physical therapy have given me my life back, meaning, purpose and dreams.”
