Patient Testimonial

Leon Everitt

Leon Everitt

You may have heard of Leon Everitt before, but probably not for the innovative therapy in which he participated at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth.  Everitt was drafted to play Major League Baseball by the Los Angeles Dodgers and later played for the San Diego Padres back in the ‘60s.  Since then he has had chronic low back pain and multiple lumbar surgeries which have confined him to his wheelchair.

His orthopedic surgeon determined he would need an additional lumbar surgery for stabilization, but this time his doctor ordered inpatient rehab prior to his surgical intervention for reconditioning in order to maximize his functional status. Everitt stayed at HealthSouth Fort Worth for fifteen days, after which he was walking over one hundred feet with his walker, and his orthopedic surgeon cleared him for surgery.
